SRAM Red AXS Firmware Update Improves Shifting Speed

New SRAM Red AXS Update Improves Shifting Speed

SRAM announced a firmware update for its Red AXS groupset that promises faster shifting response times and improved battery optimization.

Road cycling

The update, available through the SRAM AXS app, reduces the shift delay by approximately 15 milliseconds. While this may seem minor, competitive cyclists report noticeable improvements during sprint finishes and rapid gear changes on variable terrain.

Key Improvements

Battery life sees a modest 8% improvement thanks to more efficient motor control. The update also adds a new sprint mode that prioritizes shift speed over battery conservation for race situations.

Riders can download the update now through both iOS and Android versions of the SRAM AXS app. The process takes about 5 minutes per derailleur.

This marks SRAM third major firmware update of the year, showing their commitment to continuous improvement of existing hardware through software enhancements.
